Virgin Active is the health and wellness branch of Virgin Group. It boasts centres throughout the UK and around the world.
They are highly regarded as one of the most progressive and innovative health and fitness establishments around – being quick to adopt new health regimes and practices to members.
One of the key points to Virgin Active is their commitment to quality, style and innovation. The group were seeking an innovative solution to their locker rooms. They needed to equip their rooms with smart lockers and benching that would utilise all available space. Virgin also wanted a solution that could use their already installed 3rd party RFID access system. The idea of being able to use smart lockers time and again during the working day without the concern for lost or forgotten keys was something the client was keen to investigate. Compact Workspace rose to the challenge and using its well-established partnerships with the leaders in locking technology such as Vecos, Digilock and Swedestyle, the integration of the smart lockers into the existing IT infrastructure was quickly realised. The design for the locker room we proposed was submitted, discussed with the client and then tweaked to the exact specification required.
Several challenges with the installation were overcome including the use of specialist joiners who completed the fit to an exceptional standard of work. Whilst the deadline was tight to fit Virgin’s flagship city fitness centre in London, the result was a stunning, on time installation of 500 fully integrated smart lockers, custom designed and installed and integrated into the Virgin high-tech access and infotainment system.
